Seaside Heights Free Movies on the Beach expands in 2009!
The Seaside Heights Office of Public Relations will again sponsor its Free Movies on the Beach series in 2009, now expanded into the month of June, by popular demand.
There will be several differences between this season, and that of last.
The movies will begin each Saturday in June, with an “Over-13” during these dates, and the same will continue Sundays in July and until August 9th.
Children and Family oriented films will begin Thursday July 2nd, and last until August 13th.
All movies shown past AUGUST 13th on BOTH THURSDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHTS will, for the VERY FIRST time, be DISNEY FILMS, as the Disney/Miramax companies are allowing outdoor airing of films during this specific time period. All scheduled movies start at dark at the beach on Hiering Avenue
OVER-13 NIGHTS: These films could contain some risqué or other scenes that may not be unsuitable for viewers under 13.
Due to previous popularity, the first two films will explore the theme of horror and terror.
Saturday June 6th: The Amityville Horror, 1979. This film is a local favorite, filmed 31 years ago in neighboring Toms River
Saturday June 13th:, 1994. Interview With The Vampire. This is the story of Louis (Brad Pitt), a 200-year old vampire who tells the tale of his “birth into darkness” at the hands of the sinister Vampire LeStat (Tom Cruise), and their subsequent lives with vampire “daughter” Claudia (Kirsten Dunst)
Following our exploration of horror and terror, the theme will then switch to a decidedly-Academy Award theme with the last two June movies and all of the regularly scheduled Sunday “Over-13” nights until August 9th:
Saturday June 20th: The Academy Award nominated film, Frost/Nixon, directed by Ron Howard, detailing an interview with British journalist David Frost, and the then-recently disgraced U.S. President Richard Nixon.
Saturday June 27th: Brad Pitt was nominated for Best Actor for his turn in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It’s an adaptation of a story by F. The Reader is a brief tale about sex, love, reading, and shame in postwar Germany. Michael Berg is 15 when he begins a long, obsessive affair with Hanna, an enigmatic older woman.
